Queen of Pop: Ariana Grande
Yes, I said it and I’ll say it again! Ariana Grande has mastered pop culture. She’s widely known for singing, but a lot of fans forget that she’s also an actress that stared in two successful shows on Nickelodeon and she is a song writer! Not only does she write her own songs, but she’s written for Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, and Major Lazer. Her song “Baby I” was originally written for Beyonce, however, Beyonce pulled out of that deal and it became one of Grande’s most popular songs.
She was recently name to be the first act to claim spots 1,2, and 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 since The Beatles in 1964! She’s won 74 awards, been nominated for 229 awards, and is only 25 years old! Her latest album “thank u, next” is her best-selling album and if you listen to it, you’ll understand why.
Ariana’s album is rich with emotion and catchy tunes and it’s clear her biggest inspiration for this album was her romantic past and new-found freedom. Grande has dated a number of huge names including Big Sean, Pete Davidson, and the late Malcolm “Mac” Miller. She shouts out all 3 of them in her hit song “thank u, next”. In her song, “ghostin” she reveals her grief over her late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, and what that grief did to her relationship with ex-fiancé Pete Davidson. I won’t give all of the juicy details away so you can listen to album linked down below.
Ariana is set to take the stage on her Sweetener World Tour on March 18, 2019 in Albany, NY. You can catch her locally on May 2nd at the San Jose SAP Center and May 3rd at the Sacramento Golden 1 Center. Tickets are being sold now and your girl is saving for that because they are PRICEY!
